We will be cycling in close group formation, single or double line, using drafting and following the rules of group cycling (racing bikes only). We will for a moving average of ~28 km/h and we will be doing one big stop (normally at around 60% of the overall path) and a few small (10 min) for photos, stretching, etc. We will jointly decide the track to follow (1 or 2, i.e. short or long, every day). Preference will be for the longer route (2) but weather and fatigue will play a role in the decision!

I’m joinig the GBI for the 7th time. The main thing is to have fun together. Cycling, talking, cycling, see something, cycling, meeting the friends from the last years, cycling. This sounds like a successful day!! Average speed is planed around 22km/h. After every 2 hours of cycling we will have a break of 10 minutes, after 2/3 of the daily stage we will have a lunch break for 45 – 60 minutes. If necessary we will stop more often, but not to take a picture every few minutes. We will stay together for the whole day, we leave no man behind. We will cycle on track 1b therefore race bikes are preferred. Everyone is welcome, a international team would be great.

Although the team speed says 21Km/h don’t be afraid. We are smart enough to stop as much as needed and to have fun and bears at equal parts in order to reach the required speed. At the end of the day our goal is getting to know each other a little better, and to have a big time with friends and colleagues while helping to raise the funds.
So everybody is welcome on board. Greetings to all and happy 2014 GBI ;-)

This will be my third GBI after 2010 and 2012. I am a triathlete from Germany and love long distances. Either as a running a marathon or riding the bike for 180km during an IronMan. But GBI is no race and thus I want to enjoy it as a slow but long training ride together with you.

We are not going as fast as the real racing teams, only about 24km/h in average.
But this „slow“ pace and the longer track 2 requires us to do less breaks and keep going for longer parts (2h or 50km) without stopping to save time for a nice lunch break and to finish the long distance track on time each day.

So, if you have enough endurance experience to ride for at least 2h without a stop at a pace of 24km/h and enjoy long distance more than being fast then you are ready for our team.
