I’m joinig the GBI for the 6th time. The main thing is to have fun together. Cycling, talking, cycling, see something, cycling, meeting the friends from the last years, cycling. This sounds like a successful day!! Average speed is planed around 22km/h. After every 90 minutes of cycling we will have a break of 5 – 10 minutes, after 2/3 of the daily stage we will have a lunch break for 45 – 60 minutes. If necessary we will stop more often, but not to take a picture every 15 minutes. We will stay together for the whole day, we leave no man behind. We will cycle on track 1b therefore race bikes are preferred. Everyone is welcome, a international team would be great.

Werner Evers

Languages: german, english
My name is Werner. I am 42 years old. The upcoming tour will be the sixth one for me. I am cycling for more than 20 years. Important for me is the fun. This should be also valid for my team. My aim consists in the fact that we work as team together. This means that we adapt our speed to the slowest one and make a break as soon as a group member asks for it.
TEAM Fast on Track

Teamnumber 3
Languages: german, english
I am from Germany. I am 45 years old. We will have breaks when it is needed, around every 30km 10min ,after 60% of the day a long one.
Languages: german, english
I am Dirk from Germany. This will be my sixth GBI and I am happy to do that again. With my experience of the past, facing a lot of expectations from some team members it is important for me to tell you that I am just a normal GBI participant, willing to do a little bit more, led a team, share my experience and coordinate a great team to reach Düsseldorf at the end. Our aim will be to reach the daily targets in time – means before dinner time. To do so we will go with a good average speed, having a lot of fun and interesting chats together. We will have some short breaks and one longer during the day. Please be good prepared and take care that your bike is prepared too.
Please get in contact with me before registrating for my team.

"Our team will be cycling track 1a or 1b with a preference for paved roads but also for the less steeply rising track. We will cycle an average speed of 15-18 km/h - depending on the track and everybodys confidence.
During the day there will be at least 3 smaller breaks and about 30 minutes lunch break in the early afternoon. As we are cycling a quite low average speed we should try to go for an early start each morning. All types of bikes are welcome but please consider that we might be cycling track 1a."

"Hello guys!
My name is Dirk and I´m living in Germany.
I cycle with GBI since the beginning in 2008.
The last three times I was team leader and I brought everybody back to home.
I´m an All-Terrain-Biker with an average of 20 km/h.
Lunch is very important for me and my team, so we will have a larger break at the middle of every stage. Additional, we will have some small breaks in the morning and afternoon.
I would be happy, if you decide to escort me and my team in 2013.
Best regards - Dirk"

Our goal should be to have fun and some speed. Traveling at 25-28kmh over 100km is a realistic and comfortable goal. Yes At times faster, and at times waiting for each other at the top of a steep climb. We may choose to take the longer routes on some days. Less breaks the better to keep us movingŠ but a healthy lunch to recharge and take time to enjoy a local beer is never frowned upon:)

The main point for our team is enjoying the tour as a team. The motto is "if you want to go fast, go on your own. If you want to go far, go with friends". And we want to go far. We are open minded and take care for each other, within the team and also outside. Some ground rules for the team. Going uphill, everybody is free to go with their own pace, and we re-assemble at major junctions or on the top. Safety first, we follow the traffic rules and take care of other participants in the traffic, in particular children and pedestrians. It is ok if somebody wants to join or leave the team, even for an interim period. We will have regular stops and breaks, approx. every 60-90 min for 10 to 15 min (lunch break longer), but not every 5 min for no reason, photos or sightseeing. When coming closer to the destination of the day, we jointly decide if we go for another, maybe longer break at a nice place outside (Biergarten). In the morning, we leave in time, not being t

"I am an Assistant Manager and a Team Leader in the Corporate Department at Corplease (the leasing arm of Commercial international Bank).
It's my 4th year GBI and 2nd year as a team leader. Actually, I love all sports that end with ing (cycling, hiking, skiing, diving, etc.).
I used to cycle during my childhood and quitted. I returned back 5 years ago.
I eat ice cream almost every day :) its more of a passion than food to me, that's why I made a formula of 1 hour cycling a day so that I can have 2 scoops of ice cream and still lose weight & be in shape.
I am looking forward that our team will enjoy the route and finish in good timing.
I am planning to have 4 breaks plus one lunch break a day. Each break for 5 to 10 minutes, lunch 45 minutes.
Let’s have some fun :)"

My name is Matthias and I'm 34 years old. This will be my second GBI and I'm really happy to go for it again. Our Motto is "Escaping France" and because France has some beautiful landscapes we will not go too fast. Our average speed well be between 18 and 22 km/h depending on our physical condition and of course the terrain. Last year we experienced that energy bars are really helpful during the ride but they can't replace a real lunch, so we will also have a longer lunch break each day.

I am the Country Champion for Ireland and GBI 2013 will be my thrid tour. I am looking forward to another great challenge this as well as meeting new people joining the GBI. ‘Ar Nós Na Gaoithe‘ is an Irish phrase and translates to ‘As Fast as the Wind‘ – the aim of the team will be to cycle at a quick pace taking a couple of breaks along the way and stopping for any good photo opportunity. We will cycle on Track 1a and use road bikes. Any one is welcome to join.

Alexandria team mission is to enjoy to the limit.. so we enjoy cycling by speeding.. yet we will enjoy planned sightseeing ….. Punctuality is another aspect that we will try to follow .. we will move every morning on the agreed time, having rest for 10 min every 1 hour and half, one large lunch break in agreed point. If it is a team then everyone will be responsible for something that we will agree ahead, for example 1-2 is responsible for navigating, 1 is responsible for sightseeing plan, 3 are responsible for wind blocking, 1 is responsible for the tail, and so on. The night before the ride we would have daily short meeting to decide on the next day ride and timings. As a team a flat tire for rider is a stop for the whole team unless the leader decided differently (for example very close to lunch point or end point).

It`s my second GBI and I am still on fire. We will start with only a few cyclists (2!) from Paris (probably we complete another team) and collect the rest of our team (5) in Luxembourg. What track we choose depends on the fitness and willingness of our team. It will be a deep democratic process to decide whether we take track 1b or 2 from Paris to Luxembourg (racing bikes preferred). From there we will decide again by asking the new participants. We aspire to realize an average speed about 25 km/h and having breaks in a regular matter, what means that we don’t plan it but stop if we want (as well as a result of a democratic decision) to enjoy the landscape, french wine, belgian-fried potatoes, german ice leg ;-) or whatever.
