GBI Transalp 2017

Have you ever dreamt of crossing the Alps with a bike?
The given route from Garmisch to Riva del Garda is one of the less challenging routes for a transalp ride. We will often follow the ancient roman road 'Via Claudia Augusta'. For the ambitious cyclists there are several options for a challenging detour, e.g. the famous Passo Stelvio.

You will discover the magic of the Alps while cycling with us. The route from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Riva del Garda at Lake Garda is one of the less difficult transalp rides. But anyway you have to climb some mountain passes with long ascents and rapid descents. Enjoy the Alpine cuisine and unique mountain sceneries.

All different kinds of bikes are welcome, whether you have a road bike, mountainbike, city bike or even an eBike. Depending on the number of participants we will cycle in several (at least two) teams with different speed levels.

The Global Biking Initiative (GBI) wants to show you the most interesting places in Europe in a sportive way. We are proud of our international participants, that makes it easy for everybody to make new friends from other countries. One of our main goald is the continuous support of charity projects worldwide. We achieve this by engaging the participants to raise funds for a charity project in their home country.

The minimum donation for this event is 50 €. Each participant is kindly requested to raise more than the minimum donations to support our charity projects.

Teams

Each GBI participant rides in a team, guided by an experienced teamleader. The teamsize is limited to ten riders max because of legal requirements.

You can choose a team which fits best your experience, your objectives and your preferred track.

Please notice the average speed of the teams. You should be able to keep at least the given speed for the complete distance of the stages (for sure with some rests) as we cannot guarantee at the time of registration to offer an additional team with less speed.
Otherwise please feel free to set up your own team with your individual average speed. As a team captain we will provide you with a navigation device and instructions how to handle the device and how to navigate. There may be other cyclists who are glad to choose your team. In this case please inform us soon under support@gbi-event.org.
