tour itinerary
day 1: Malaga - Ronda
The guided first stage from Málaga to Ronda offers us a fascinating mix of coastal landscape, hills and the impressive mountains of Andalusia. We start in the lively city of Málaga and initially drive along the Mediterranean coast, where we can enjoy the warm climate and the wonderful views of the sea. We soon leave the coast and head into the hilly hinterland, where the landscape quickly gains height and variety.
Our route takes us through picturesque white villages such as Alhaurín el Grande and Coín, on quiet country roads lined with olive groves and orange trees. The further we advance into the Sierra de las Nieves, the more demanding the climb becomes, but the spectacular views of the green valleys and the surrounding mountain range make up for every effort.
Track 2 takes off and roams the countryside on mostly quiet, asphalted back roads. Along the Rio Guadahhorce we pass several beautifully situated smaller lakes.
After the challenging climb, there is a long and winding descent towards Ronda. This impressive city sits on a plateau above the dramatic El Tajo Gorge and is famous for its historic architecture and the breathtaking Puente Nuevo. Once we arrive in Ronda, we let the day come to an end, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and look back at the surrounding mountains. This first stage offers us sporting challenges, magnificent landscapes and cultural highlights that make up the heart of Andalusia.
day 2: Ronda - Jerez de la Frontera
On the second day of our tour we continue our journey from Ronda towards Jerez de la Frontera. After breakfast in the historic old town of Ronda, we start the journey with a long, gentle descent from the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda. The winding route takes us through picturesque valleys, past fields and olive groves, and gives us sweeping views of the beautiful Andalusian landscape.
After leaving the mountains behind us, the landscape gradually changes and becomes flatter. On quiet country roads we drive through the typical white villages of Andalusia, which are known for their charming architecture and relaxed atmosphere. We take a short break in one of the villages to regain our strength and soak up the Andalusian culture.
Track 2 climbs another mountain! At almost 1,200 meters high, it will also be the highest point of the whole tour via the Puerto de las Palomas. The route leads through the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Grazalema and the whole time we are treated to great views of Andalusia.
The further south we go, the more noticeable the influence of the Atlantic becomes. Finally we reach Jerez de la Frontera, the city that is known worldwide for its sherry, flamenco culture and noble horses. Once here, we enjoy the warm atmosphere of the city and explore the picturesque streets and historical sights in the afternoon. The day ends with a well-deserved glass of sherry in one of the traditional wine cellars - a perfect reward after another varied and eventful day in the heart of Andalusia.
day 3: Jerez de la Frontera - Sevilla
On the third day we set off from Jerez de la Frontera and make our way to Seville, the vibrant capital of Andalusia. The stage begins relaxed with a flat ride through the wide plains that are so typical of this region. We cycle through green fields, vineyards and orange groves and enjoy the mild Andalusian climate. The rural tranquility and the wide views accompany us as we progress on low-traffic roads.
On the way we pass small villages that offer an insight into traditional, rural Andalusia. A break in one of these villages gives us the opportunity to try local specialties and strengthen ourselves for the rest of the route.
Track 2 takes a leisurely detour to the east and, thanks to a small climb before Espera, can enjoy extensive, wide views of the Andalusian plain.
The closer we get to Seville, the more urban the surroundings become. The flat route allows us to cycle at a relaxed pace until the impressive skyline of the city finally appears on the horizon. When we arrive in Seville, we immediately immerse ourselves in the lively atmosphere of this fascinating metropolis. The city with its rich history and imposing buildings such as the Cathedral of Seville and the Alcázar invites us to explore in the afternoon.
After arriving, we treat ourselves to a break in one of the many charming cafes before being enchanted by the flamenco music and the lights of the city in the evening. The third day ends in Seville with a perfect mix of culture, history and the flair of this unique city.
day 4:Sevilla (rest day)
On the fourth day, we treat ourselves to a well-deserved rest day in Seville to explore the city in detail and enjoy its cultural treasures. We start the day with a relaxed breakfast in one of the cozy cafes before setting off to see the city's impressive sights. The majestic Seville Cathedral and the Alcázar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are just some of the highlights on our program.
The narrow, winding streets of the old town invite you to be discovered and there are lively squares everywhere where authentic Andalusian life pulsates. We can enjoy the atmosphere in the traditional tapas bars and treat ourselves to delicious regional specialties.
For those who want to explore the area around Seville on their own, there is the option of cycling to the surrounding villages or to the nearby Doñana Natural Park. There are numerous cycle paths here and the opportunity to experience the impressive flora and fauna of Andalusia.
Whether we explore the city intensively or take a relaxed bike ride into nature - this rest day in Seville allows us to get the most out of the trip and prepare ourselves for the adventures to come. In the evening we meet again to share our experiences and end the day in one of the atmospheric restaurants.
day 5: Sevilla - Osuna
After our relaxing day of rest in Seville, we set off the next morning towards Osuna, a charming town known for its historic old town and impressive architecture. The stage begins with a leisurely drive on quiet roads through the Andalusian countryside. We enjoy the rolling hills and the wide fields as we gradually move away from the city.
On the way, we stop in a small village to try fresh local products and to fortify ourselves for the onward journey. The route takes us through the typical Andalusian countryside, lined with olive groves and vineyards, which always offer us new views.
After Seville, Track 2 roughly follows the railway line to Madrid before turning south again shortly after Guadajoz after a short rendezvous with the Rio Corbones and rejoins Track 1 via Carmona and Arahal in Marchena.
The closer we get to Osuna, the more we feel the historic charm of the town. Osuna is known for its impressive buildings, including the University of Osuna and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, both of which are testaments to the town's rich history. When we arrive, we have enough time to stroll through the old town, explore the picturesque squares and soak up the Andalusian atmosphere.
In the evening, we enjoy dinner together and reflect on the day as we prepare for the next leg of our journey. This trip to Osuna not only offers a welcome sporting challenge, but also the opportunity to experience the fascinating culture and history of Andalusia up close.
day 6: Osuna - Malaga
On the last day of our tour we make our way back from Osuna to Málaga. After a hearty breakfast in Osuna we set off early to enjoy the fresh morning air and the tranquil atmosphere of the Andalusian countryside. The route takes us through the picturesque hilly landscape, past olive groves and small villages as we gradually move back towards the coast.
As Track 1 follows the route of Track 2 from the first stage (in reverse), Track 2 opts for a longer route for the return journey via Antequera, also known as the 'Heart of Andalusia' due to its central location between the Andalusian cities of Málaga, Cranada, Córdoba and Seville.
The route back to Málaga is flat and pleasant, allowing us to enjoy the last few kilometers to the full. We may make a short stop along the way to enjoy the view and take some last photos of the impressive landscape.
When we finally reach Málaga, we have the opportunity to explore the city once again, perhaps visit the beaches or enjoy a last delicious lunch in one of the traditional restaurants.
The end of our tour not only offers the opportunity to review the experiences and impressions of the past days, but also to look forward to the memories we have made together. In the evening, we end the trip in a festive setting, celebrating our sporting achievements and the beauty of Andalusia.
