If you have your own GPS as a back up and can download the tracks ahead of time, it would be great. We'll stop for a short time at the rest stops and on longer days, we will stop for lunch. I’m joinig the GBI for the 8th time. The main thing is to have fun together. Cycling, talking, cycling, see something, cycling, meeting the friends from the last years, cycling. This sounds like a successful day!! Average speed is planed around 22km/h. After 2/3 of the daily stage we will have a lunch break for 45 – 60 minutes. If necessary we will stop more often, but not to take a picture every few minutes. We will stay together for the whole day, we leave no man behind. We will cycle on track 1b therefore race bikes are preferred. Everyone is welcome, a international team would be great.

Fun and friendship are the pillars of my GBI vision ; we’ll leave together in morning and arrive together in the afternoon. I don’t want anyone to be left alone on the way. It’s basically a holiday, stops for sightseeing and lunch are welcome; if you consider GBI as a race, please don’t join this group .

It's my 7th year GBI and 5th year as a team leader, 3nd year with my wife :). Actally, I love all sports that end with ing (cycling, hiking, skiing, diving, etc.).
I used to cycle during my childhood and quitted, returned back since 2010. I eat ice cream almost every day :) its more of a passion than food to me, that's why I made a formula of 1 hour cycling a day so that I can have 2 scoops of ice cream and still lose weight & be in shape. I am looking forward that our team will enjoy the route and finish in good timing. I am planning to have 4 breaks plus one lunch break a day. Each break for 5 to 10 minutes, lunch 45 minutes.
“The more you TRAIN, the more you ENJOY!”
Let’s have some fun :)

I’m Nils, turning 16 in March and it will be a pleasure to me to lead the
team „The globetrotters“. The team name basically means the world
travelers, which I thought would be a great name for such an event. This will be the first time I join the GBI, but my father (Martin) is going to support me to overcome this challenge. It is his fourth GBI and I think he has gained enough experiences to be able to adjust me into the right directions. We expect road bikes only, unless you are able to stand the astonishing average speed of around 26 km/h, which we are aiming for.
Normally we aim to have two shorter breaks and one longer lunch break, but this might change depending on the day

The key idea is to cycle together and have fun, both of them at the same time. Average speed is approximate, depending on the day route… and how was the day before…or next day. Stops are decided more or less on the fly, more often before we feel hungry or tired, and if we feel fresh nice and easy we may delay it and keep going, decided by group consensus. We welcome anyone wishing to cycle with us, as long as he/she is able to cycle and laugh, tell jokes, etc. By the way, the team name comes from a cycling event in the Pyrenees: a tour-de-france stage opened to amateurs crossing several colls (we hope crossing the Alps will be easier!!!).

Joining the team probably won't allow you to achieve the original GBI goal of losing weight while riding a bike because we like beer more like anything else. So we are prone to leave as soon as we are thirsty to get a pint (or two).
But you'll love the fun and the laughs while enjoying the views in a quiet way. We ride for a good cause and are more than happy to welcome new riders to the team. Hope to see all you soon in Venice!

But there is something we can definitely guarantee: joining our team will not make you loose weight while riding a bike, since we love beer more than anything else in the world. We will forget about the bike as soon as we are thirsty and get a pint (or two). First things first.
You will also love the fun and the laughs along the way and we will enjoy the quiet landscape all together.
We will ride for a good cause and we are more than happy to welcome new riders to join our team. Looking forward to seeing you all pretty soon in Vienna!
